The second quarter of 2021 saw interesting trends among the top News and Magazines apps in Brazil. Here’s a closer look at the performance of the top five apps on a unified platform, based on data from Sensor Tower.

Folha de S.Paulo experienced a steady weekly revenue, peaking at around $7.2K in the last week of April. Weekly downloads showed a downward trend early in the quarter, hitting a low of approximately 3.2K in mid-June before rebounding to 6.2K by the end of June. Active users fluctuated, ending the quarter at nearly 199K.

O Globo saw a consistent increase in weekly revenue, reaching nearly $3K in the final week of June. Weekly downloads remained relatively stable, with minor fluctuations, peaking at around 3.3K. Active users showed a slight decline, maintaining around 75K towards the end of the quarter.

Medium had a notable peak in weekly downloads at the beginning of April, with over 10K downloads. However, the numbers settled around 2.5K to 3K for the rest of the quarter. Revenue showed a gradual increase, peaking at approximately $2K in late June. Active users remained steady, hovering around the 35K to 38K mark.

Estadão Notícias saw its weekly revenue steadily increase, reaching about $1.5K by the end of June. Downloads fluctuated, with the lowest point being around 1.3K in mid-June and a peak of 2.3K in early May. Active users showed a slight decline, ending the quarter with approximately 22K users.

Lastly, Valor Econômico - Notícias had a varied performance in weekly downloads, with a significant peak of 5.4K at the end of May. Revenue increased towards the end of the quarter, reaching around $677 in the last week of June. Active users showed a peak of 34K in late May but dropped to approximately 27K by the end of June.
